Permanent house built with local materials.

  • If conditions allow, the aluminium structure can support thatching for the roof
  • Walls can be made of bricks, mud blocks/cement reinforced mud blocks supported by a foundation ring of concrete or cement blocks
  • The slab can be made of concrete
  • The main advantage of such a house is that it is long-lasting and termite-resistant and has a cost-effective roof structure
  • The roof is supported by aluminium poles, which makes it possible to construct external walls not as load - bearing walls but as half-brick walls
  • For covering the roof polyester/ PVC tarpaulins can also be used

2. Life span/maintenance

  • The aluminium structure and polyester/ PVC tarpaulin are long - lasting materials
  • The life span of the aluminium structure is almost unlimited
  • The life span of polyester/ PVC tarpaulin is at least 25 years
  • There is no need for routine maintenance
  • Both materials are extremely heavy duty materials
  • If any mechanical damage (vandalism) occurs, it can be easily repaired
  • The possible deformation of tarpaulin following direct contact with a flame can also easily be repaired by spare tarpaulin glued to the original one

3. Construction.
The structure consists of aluminium poles, horizontal beams, rafters, tie beams and chief elements on the top. The construction is similar to the African house construction.

Temporary house.
For construction of temporary houses the poles are put in holes 60 cm deep. The holes can be dug or drilled by a hand drill that is included in each structural set.

Permanent house.
The foundation ring of concrete or cement blocks supports the aluminium poles.
